Susana Dzhamaladinova (real name of singer) is a Crimean Tatar. Jamala was interested in jazz music since her childhood. When she was only 9 years old, she recorded at the studio 12 children and folk songs. Singer graduated with honors from the National Music Academy in Kiev (class operatic vocals).

Susana became the finalist of the "New Wave" in 2009. After that she went on tour across the CIS countries and abroad. Two solo concerts were also held in Kiev. She has appeared in various TV shows, won award "ELLE Style", "Man of the Year 2009" (nomination "Ukrainians Idol").

Jamala sings in different styles - jazz, blues, soul, opera arias. The singer has released 3 albums.
