First look tradition

жених впервые видит невесту

Our tradition "not to see the bride in a dress before the ceremony" is very symbolic. Most often, the groom sees the bride for the first time at the ransom, in the morning. In the west, more preference is given to the wedding ceremony, where the bride and groom first meet at the crown.

This tradition also has its own characteristics and history. In ancient times, parents decided who would marry whom for their children. Parents themselves prepared their children for the act of marriage, so it was not allowed to see young people "before". Of course, it is now believed that if the groom sees the bride in a white dress before her father solemnly takes her to the altar, then this is a bad sign!

The first look tradition can take place in two formats:

  • the groom sees the bride walking with her father arm in arm to the altar, where he expects her.
  • the groom in the company only with the photographer is waiting for the bride in a secluded place. This tradition is more popular. Men, in fact, are no less emotional than women, but showing it to the public is not a man's thing. Therefore, alone with their beloved, they often do not skimp on emotions and show delight, affection, joy and pride.

An alternative to the "first sight" tradition, in the West, might be to write a personal letter to each other, which they read separately.
