What is a Baby Shower in a language everyone can understand?

Baby Shower (English: Baby shower) is a very popular holiday in the West. For some, it is more important than a wedding or at the level of importance.

You've probably seen more than once in Hollywood films how a pregnant woman is seated on a soft chair and showered with a bunch of gifts and treated to sweets! Exactly! This is exactly it!

This holiday can be called “zero birthday” in another way. In essence, this is an event dedicated to giving gifts to an unborn child. In other words, it’s like after a birth, all relatives and friends immediately begin to shower the newborn with gifts, only everything is organized on one day and more solemnly.

A little history

Like many other holidays, this one has also undergone some changes and is already significantly different from the baby shower of 20 years ago.

Previously, this was a purely female matter. Women, both those already having children and those without them, came, brought gifts and shared their experiences over a cup of tea. Such a holiday did not necessarily have to be held BEFORE the birth of the child, but also AFTER his birth.

And now?

A modern Baby Shower most often looks like this: the expectant mother’s friends take over the organization entirely. The expectant mother does not know when (usually 2 months before giving birth) and where her friends will bring her to celebrate. The place of celebration is beautifully decorated. Traditionally, these are pom-poms, flags, banners with the inscriptions “It’s a boy”, “It’s a girl”, a candy bar, a sea of helium balloons.

Of course, it happens that mommy herself is involved in the organization, and it is prepared very thoroughly - with invitations, a restaurant, a photo zone and gifts for guests.

The holiday takes on a special twist when no one knows the sex of the unborn baby.

In conclusion, I would like to characterize this celebration as “a non-alcoholic woman’s Sabantuy with a bunch of little cute things and sweets.”

I want too!

In our country, few people know such a holiday, and those who know it don’t bother about it. It’s up to you to decide whether or not to have a baby shower, but if it’s worth it, the event organizers will definitely tell you how!
